When LinkedIn chose to move into a historical building located in the heart of Detroit, L.S. Brinker helped make it happen. The 75,000 square foot buildout was a complete renovation of the first four floors within the Albert Kahn-designed Sanders and Grinnell buildings.
When you walk into the office space, you are welcomed by a reception area that was inspired by the design of a piano, which Grinnell Brothers were known for producing and selling. In other areas of the office, visitors will find graphics that pay homage to the confectionaries that were once created in this building. Entering the third floor workspace, you are greeted by a series of car grilles mounted along the lobby wall with the words ‘BUILT HERE’ painted across them, proudly emphasizing the birthplace of automotive innovation. While the design honors the great history of the space, we also included a few modern amenities including a café, barista lounge, mindfulness room, and parent’s room.
